About TaxVet
Preparing to be a financially responsible adult should be a topic discussed in school. Unfortunately, American society largely dismisses this topic and encourages get-rich-quick schemes and spending irresponsibly to support the interests of large players in the American Economy.
Here at TaxVet, we commit to reversing the damage that unlicensed Financial Influencers, predatory marketing, and salespeople push onto our every day lives.
Thanks for visiting my About Me page. I am Thien Nguyen, EA, CMFA™ , 6 year US Navy Veteran who has been afflicted by the lack of Financial Literacy from my family, friends, and even myself. I have seen how basic knowledge of Investing, Taxation, Government Benefits, and Long-term Planning may guide someone's life for the better.
I was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2001 and immigrated over as a naturalized citizen in 2007. I have been a San Francisco Bay Area and San Jose native ever since. My family was not the most financially savvy; similar to many immigrant families. We frequently made decisions against our own best interests due to lack of knowledge.
Riddled with domestic issues such as frequent moving from rental to rental, alcoholism, and gambling addiction, my family and I never found footing in America's most expensive county. I had aspirations to be a particle physicist or lawyer but realized that my single mother family could not afford my college education.
I joined the Navy in 2019 in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program as an Engineering Laboratory Technician. I figured how to live on my own and handle my own finances to the best of my limited ability. I also saw many of my colleagues commit life-altering decisions: 30% APR car loan on a Challenger or cheating on one's spouse while paying off a mortgage and sharing 3 children.
I learned through experience that it wasn't large amounts of money that made people preserve their wealth; it was the knowledge that came with handling your life decisions.
Outside of working on TaxVet, I enjoy photography (all photo & video content on this site are my own work), volunteering for my city, and enjoying nature.
TaxVet is different from any other tax office or wealth management firm: We provide affordable consultations and services from Investment Planning for college to Tax Planning for small businesses regardless of your income, net worth, and beliefs because we believe in bringing financial literacy back to the Common American.
